I, like some others, am having a "splash and crash" problem since Apocrypha. Frankly, it feels like I've been taking it in the wormhole for the last day-and-a-half.
Initial patch = great, logged in for a quick check Wed night = seemed okay. 2 days later Friday night - try to sign in - splash screen pops up, then goes away, no log in screen ever appears. I can see Eve working on my task manager when it's booting up, but then the program seems to quit.
Did total Eve reload per this: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1020574
No luck. Same issue of Splash and Crash.
Ran Log Server (which keeps running in the background long after Eve splashes and crashes), but seems to be in some sort of loop.
Read Log Server messages. I see a red stop sign (EVE Client version 6.1 build 84244 started 03/14/2009 0:22:07) and a skull and crossbones (EVE Client version 6.1 build 84244 started 03/14/2009 0:22:07). Those can't be good.
A few lines later in the log led me to a Eve forum post from a while ago:

It was the missing arialuni.ttf. I downloaded it from the internet and installed, now its working.

Failed to start service fonts (bin\blue.dll) Probably just a font file missing that is used in the launchpad?? One line above it tries to open "arialuni.ttf", i looked into windows/fonts but couldnt find the file there. This error occurs 3 times in the log.

I checked my LogServer messages from 2 different "splash and crashes" and this is what I found in both (after the stop signs and skeleton symbols):
Open C:\WINDOWS\Fonts/arialuni.ttf Found fallbackfont: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts/arialuni.ttf Open C:\WINDOWS\Fonts/arialuni.ttc Service fonts required 0.007 seconds to startup
Then the logs just seem to loop.
I looked in my C:\Windows\Fonts - I found the arialuni.ttf, but didn't see a arialuni.ttc . Thought that if I could find and install an arial unicode.ttc font file, I could fix the issue.
Did an internet search and seems I can't find a arialuni.ttc (Arial Unicode TrueType Compressed Font).
Does this kind of file exist? Will this fix my problem? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Will I ever see wormhole space?
Thanks in advance for any help.
